Meet The Team

In 2014 after recently graduating high school, Mitch decided to take his part time lawn care business to a new level and started From The Ground Up. With a few years of experience under his belt, he branched off on his own full time. Mitch started knocking on doors looking for more lawns to mow and, with his can-do attitude, he branched out into offering more services like: snow plowing, irrigation, landscaping, tree work, and much more. With a growing customer list and an increased workload he started hiring and training employees, the rest is history. When not at work you can find him enjoying the outdoors, traveling to new places, mountain biking, hunting, or golfing.

Matt's love for landscaping began at 13, when he started helping on a project at his grandfather's house. He attended MSU Mankato for construction management and went onto work at a lawn care company doing irrigation and commercial snow removal. Matt joined the From The Ground Up team in 2018. Designing outdoor entertainment areas, lighting, and water features are Matt's favorite. He attends classes and seminars, learning all he can to better serve our clients. In his free time Matt loves spending time with his two children and girlfriend, as well as golfing and home projects.

Aaron joined the FTGU team in June of 2021, with 10 years
experience in lawn care & snow removal. His role is constantly evolving, with the growing needs of the company. His primary focus is with our commercial accounts, always lending a hand to the other divisions when needed. In the winter is when you
ll see Aaron in his element as our Snow Dispatcher. When he's not working, you'll find Aaron at the cabin with his family in Hayward, WI. Come fall he'll be on the field coaching Northfield Varsity Football.

Jake has been doing irrigation installation and service work for 15 years. He has a passion for serving our customers. Jake gets excited for the snow season and has been removing snow since 2007. He's been married for 5 years and has 2 beautiful children. When not at work, Jake enjoys camping with his family, softball, golfing, and really anything that will keep him outdoors.

Mitch joined From The Ground Up in 2020 with two years of lawn care experience. He also worked seven years as a mechanic. Mitch enjoys helping customers with their lawn care needs and also helping in the shop to keep operations running. When Mitch is not working at From The Ground Up he is also a paid On Call Firefighter for the Owatonna Fire Department. In his off time, Mitch enjoys shooting pool, playing softball, and waterfowl hunting with his friends.

Nicole started at From The Ground Up in 2023 with 17 years of experience. She started her career in public accounting and quickly learned that she enjoys working for small businesses in the construction industry. She has great attention to detail and gets the project done! She married her high school sweetheart, Nick, and they have two amazing children, Ivy and Carter! Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, especially anything outdoors.

Together with his partner Jen, their three children and three dogs, Josh Wells has made Owatonna his home. Originally from St Louis, Josh, an army Veteran, has turned his passion for the outdoors into his life
s work. Having owned a successful landscaping business, he comes to us with years of experience with a focus on trees and is enrolled in arboriculture classes. When not at work, he can be found farming, biking or any other activity that keeps him busy outdoors.
