Irrigation Technician

Job Description

The Irrigation Technician is under the direction of the department supervisor, maintaining and repairing irrigation systems.

JOB DUTIES

  • Turns irrigation systems on and off as designated.
  • Repairs and replaces hoses, pipes, and numerous types of sprinkler heads and fixtures.
  • Operates timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers.
  • Replaces or repairs irrigation valves.
  • Installs or repairs irrigation lines.
  • May assist in various maintenance activities as required.
  • Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Performs snow removal, as required.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year experience in irrigation or similar trade preferred
  • Training available
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to install, operate, troubleshoot and repair manual and/or computerized irrigation systems
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures
  • Ability to perform irrigation tasks such as operate timers, clocks, and controls for sprinklers
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 50lbs.
  • Knowledge of manual and/or computerized irrigation systems
  • Ability to follow safe working procedures
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, while following the direction of the foreman
  • Effective communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proven dependability and responsible conduct
  • Strong ethics and integrity
